Who we are:
We are a couple and we experience that all people are inherently social, with a deep need to belong and to share. This potential socialisation also brings up lots of fears as people became so distant from each other, especially after the horrendous lockdowns we have experienced. An opportunity to go communal presented itself to us and we want to share it with many interested parties. This is a fairly unique fortuity as it will involve private land ownership as well as communal ownership of fertile vegetable gardens and fruit orchards. It is indeed an exciting venture and we look forward to what can be accomplished by amazing human beings. We hope to meet you in person soon.
Martin and Edith.

Goals of the Fuenteheridos Ecovillage:

  • Sustainability:
The aim is to minimize our impact on the environment by utilizing renewable energy, recycling waste and promoting sustainable living practices.
  • Strong Sense of Community:
Living in an ecovillage communal project fosters a strong sense of community, with residents sharing common values and goals.
  • Cost-Effective Living:
By sharing resources, such as tools and appliances, as residents of the ecovillage we can reduce our expenses and live more cost-effectively.
  • Health and Well-being:
Health and well-being are priorities and can be accomplished by providing access to fresh, organic produce and promoting physical activity and mindfulness practices.
  • Education and Learning Opportunities:
We already offer educational programs and opportunities to learn about sustainable living practices, permaculture, and other topics related to environmental and social sustainability.
  • Increased Resilience:
There is a strong will to be self-sufficient and resilient, which means we can better withstand economic or environmental shocks.
  • Reduced Environmental Footprint:
By utilizing renewable energy and promoting sustainable living practices, our ecovillage can significantly reduce our environmental footprint.
  • Social Responsibility:
Promoting social equity, inclusivity, diversity and supporting local communities are of paramount importance to us.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

  • The plots of land should be bought simultaneously. The existing owner doesn't want to sell off smaller pieces of land although they are entitled to as each property carries its own title deed. This is one clear condition from the owner as it makes more sense to him to sell all at once as it makes any agricultural activity more viable.
Permanent housing might not receive permission to be constructed. Alternative housing structures like mobile homes, yurts, cob constructions and domes might be the way to go. There is a camping site next to the larger portion of the ecovillage which might offer accommodation solutions, especially over the short term.
The smaller plots of land are scattered in the area but within walking distance from each other.
Land allocation will be on a first come first serve basis and will only be reserved against a payment of a deposit to a lawyer appointed by for the task to legally administer funds.
The communal property might be in the name of a trust or a company, something that the members will decide upon.
This is a pilot project. Nothing has been fixed as yet. Many changes will take place but once transfer of funds have taken place, it will be deemed legally binding and fixed in nature.
